How to Delete Your Google Business Profile (Step-by-Step Guide)

If you’ve closed your business, rebranded, or no longer need your Google Business Profile, it’s important to know how to properly remove or delete it. Managing your online presence is crucial, and knowing when and how to delete a listing can help you protect your brand and keep your business information accurate across the web.

In this guide, Quicke Marketing walks you through the exact steps to delete or remove your Google Business Profile safely.

Why You Might Want to Delete Your Google Business Profile

Deleting a Google Business Profile isn’t something to take lightly, once it’s gone, your business will no longer appear on Google Maps or local search results. Here are a few reasons you might choose to delete your profile:

  • Your business has permanently closed.

  • You’ve rebranded or merged with another business.

  • You’ve created duplicate listings.

  • You’re moving locations and want to start fresh.

If you’re only changing ownership, address, or contact details, you can update those instead of deleting the entire profile.

How to Delete a Google Business Profile

Follow these steps to permanently delete your Google Business Profile:

Step 1: Sign In to Your Google Account

Log into the Google account connected to your business profile. Go to Google Business Profile Manager or search your business name directly in Google Search.

Step 2: Locate Your Business

If you manage multiple listings, select the business you want to delete. You’ll see your management dashboard appear with options to edit or remove your listing.

Step 3: Access the Settings

Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the profile view, then choose Business Profile Settings → Remove Business Profile.

Step 4: Choose “Delete Business Profile”

Select Remove Business Profile, then confirm by clicking Delete. You’ll see a confirmation message explaining what will happen once the profile is deleted. Read it carefully and select OK or Confirm to complete the process.

Important: Deleting your Google Business Profile does not automatically remove reviews or photos from Google Search. Those will be removed over time once your profile is no longer active.

What to Do Before Deleting Your Profile

Before you permanently remove your listing, consider these quick tips:

  • Download your data: Export your business insights, photos, and posts from Google Takeout.

  • Notify customers: Let loyal clients know about your move, closure, or rebrand through social media or email.

  • Redirect traffic: If you’ve rebranded, link your new website or business profile to keep your online audience connected.
